Body of Art

Friday night I had the pleasure of attending "A Night to be Wowed" which was a benefit for a local art gallery in Austin, Women and Their Work. Here is the description from the W&TW website:

Experience an evening of art and spectacle in the stunning new home of art collectors extraordinaire, Deborah Green and Clayton Aynesworth. This gala benefit offers an exclusive look at the house Green built to showcase her extensive - and adventurous - collection of contemporary art.

You will see works by internationally renowned artists such as Jenny Holtzer, Richard Diebenkorn, Joan Mitchell, Jim Hodges, Spencer Finch, Andy Warhol, Jennifer Steinkamp and dozens more. Bid in the silent art auction on a must have work from some of the best loved artists in Texas: Natasha Bowdoin, Candace BriceƱo, Erin Curtis, Anthony Garza, Roi James, Randy Muniz, Denise Prince, and Liz Ward.

Be intrigued by 13 strikingly dressed performers creating roving displays of human sculpture and tableaux in unexpected places. A Body of Art will surround you.

Music by DJ Manny!

Hors d'oeuvres, Wine, Beer, Spirits & Sweets:
Catering from Spirited Food
Cupcakes from Delish
Vodka from Tito's Handmade Vodka
Wine from The Austin Wine Merchant
Beer from Live Oak Brewery

Proceeds will support Women & Their Work's 2010 programs, which present some of the most engaging, original art of our time and provide arts education to students in underserved schools.

I must say, the home and the party were quite amazing! Here, the artist painting the body of a model..
I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed being there in person - the owner's collection of contemporary art was really quite impressive!

Have a great night! M.

NEW STALK MATERIAL = RSP

That's right, people! I have a new obsession, addiction, another blog for you to stalk!
You will thank me for introducing you to the RED STAPLER PROJECT - your new one-stop-shop for not only "navigating the office with poise", but also for wonderful fashion tips in general! I am proud to say that I am friends with the author, a fellow MBA-er with my husband at McCombs. With a pedigree that comes from Dartmouth undergrad (where she played soccer, might I add) followed by a 3 year stint at Lehman Brothers in NY, I am not sure what this Dallas native CAN'T do - I just hope she remembers me when she's a contributing fashion editor at VOGUE!

Laura here with Warren Buffett - Red Stapler endorsement (not a shabby one, either!)
Shopping with me at Round Top...
These are "Laura's Likes" from Roundtop 2010. She was dying over the champagne crates that were upholstered as a bench!
So go on now, blog till you drop.

Friday, April 2, 2010

This past week, I spent two days in Roundtop, Texas for the antique fairs. I could not help but photograph this little girl asleep with her DOG, complete with cowboy boots and all. This would make anyone want to move to Texas! I think I secretly envied her for a minute there...
One my second day of shopping, I had great company! My friend Laura with her Mom, Leslie, and their friend, Patty who came from Dallas. These ladies are serious Roundtop-ers - and have been coming for years. After they made a purchase it was only appropriate to meet them in the car for a cold beer to celebrate. Now that is what I call smart shopping - these gals have it ALL figured out!
Vintage trims...

Beautiful collection of Armenian pots..
I should've snagged these for my sister. :( They had a set of 6...
Great African stools - much less $$ than others I've seen!

Off to Dallas...back soon!
